Garden HWY Update

Natomas Construction Update: Reach A site preparation activities schedule

What: USACE contractors are working in proximity to our Natomas Reach A levee locations to conduct tree trimming and removals now through February 2021. Those traveling through these sections should expect temporary single lane closures to occur along Garden Highway between Farm Rd and Gateway Oaks Dr.

Why: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is expected to award the Natomas Reach A construction contract later this year to construct levee improvements along a 3.5-mile stretch of levee between Farm Rd and Gateway Oaks Dr. In order to minimize delays in beginning construction in Spring 2022, encroachments within the construction footprint, such as utilities and trees, must be removed or relocated prior to the start of work.

When: Site preparation activities will be ongoing through February 2022; however, the current schedule for tree trimming and removals is as follows (weather permitting):

January 8 - 18, 2021: Orchard Lane to Pumping Plants 1A and 1B

January 19 - 26, 2021: Near 1610 Garden Hwy to the Ray and Judy Tretheway Oak Preserve

January 27 - February 1, 2021: Near 2800 Garden Hwy to near 2604 Garden Hwy

February 2 - 8, 2021: North of I-80 overpass

For more information: Additionally, please see the attached mailer for some additional information about site preparation activities.

For more information about the current status of our Natomas Reach A project, you can view a recording of our November 2020 virtual public meeting here: https://youtu.be/-eV7rWy3WnM

As always you can find the latest information about our Natomas levee improvement work at www.natomaslevees.com

2021 Bucks for Bikes Program

The SNTMA has limited funds for approximately twenty Bucks for Bikes subsidies. We are offering up to $720 or 90% of the purchase cost of a new commuter bike, whichever is less to the TMA. We prefer to support the only bike shop in Natomas. If you are not currently commuting to South Natomas, we will accept estimates and receipts from bike shops other than the Natomas Bike Shop. Complete the attached application and return it to Stephanie at Stephanie@sntma.org.  As a condition of funding, recipients will track bike commute usage for one month. The application deadline is 3/26/2021. One cannot receive both the Bike Maintenance & Accessory and Bucks for Bikes subsidies in the same calendar year. One can only receive a Bucks for Bikes subsidy every 3 years. See the attached Bucks for Bikes application.
